Man held with drugs worth Rs 20 lakh in Andheri

A 32-year-old man was arrested by the Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) officers for allegedly possessing drugs worth Rs 20 lakh on Friday.
Following the arrest, the Bandra unit of ANC registered a case and booked the accused for indulging in distribution of the seized drug.
According to the narcotics officials, the accused has been identified as Sabir Khan, a Jogeshwari resident. While patrolling near Andheri area, Khan was spotted indulging in some suspicious activity behind a BMC school by the cops. On probing more, the officers found Khan trying to hide something in his bag. He had also started behaving suspiciously. The officers found 1 kg of Mephedrone from Khan's bag. Khan was immediately arrested.
"The accused is a resident of a chawl in Jogeshwari and is unemployed. The drugs seized is worth Rs 20 lakh in the commercial market. We suspect him to be involved in distribution of drugs from the area he was arrested. The patrolling has been in intensified to curb such activities. The accused is being questioned in custody and we have booked him under relevant Sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The investigation of the case is under progress," said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Narcotics, Shivdeep Lande.
