Thirty-year-old Vishu Singh who was already walking on the rough patch of life just found himself in a tougher situation to deal. While he himself is suffering from polio and diabetes, his 90-year- old mother is now traumatised after a neighbourhood building collapsed on their residence leaving her with minor injuries.
According to Singh, he lived with his mother Chando Devi and two brother on the second floor of the building which also got damaged after, the entire 25 sq. yards four storey building which was at the corner collapsed, touching the building standing on the opposite road. The building collapse blocked the entire 30 feet lane. The other building lost its entire side wall damaging property of the residents living there.
"I had gone to Deep Chand Bandhu hospital to get diabetes medicine, and I already am a polio patient. As I heard about the collapse, I rushed back home to check on my aged mother. She was rescued and brought out of the house by locals. She is traumatised and told me that she was in the kitchen when it happened and when the building fell she felt tremors and fell down," said Singh.
Singh was a food vendor but his food stall also got damaged and the civic body officials have not allowed him to enter house.
"The officials have banned our entry inside the house. We have not been able to check the damage or even get our belongings out of the house. Had to spend the night at the friend's house where I had to shift other members too. I had applied for handicapped food stall from the MCD on which nothing has been done. Now I'm left with merely Rs2,000, which also I had to borrow from a friend for my daily expenses," said Singh.
He further said if now he had restart his business, he will have to invest around 40/50 thousands and find a new place to live.
