The announcement of the party candidates for Bhadrachalam, Wyra and Sattupalli Assembly constituencies by the CPI(M) leadership set off celebrations among the party cadres in the three constituencies and elsewhere in the undivided Khammam district on Thursday.
The party on Thursday released its first list of candidates for nine Assembly constituencies in the State including three in undivided Khammam district for the coming Assembly elections..
The party has named former MP Midiam Babu Rao as its candidate from Bhadrachalam ST reserved Assembly constituency, hitherto represented by party senior leader Sunnam Rajaiah in the dissolved State Assembly.
Dr. Babu Rao, who hails from Dummugudem mandal in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, represented the Bhadrachalam Lok Sabha constituency (2004-2009), which was subsequently dissolved following the delimitation exercise.
CPI (M) district secretariat member and Girijana Sangham district general secretary Bukya Veerabhadram has been declared as the party candidate for the ST-reserved Wyra constituency in Khammam district.
Party district secretariat member Macharla Bharathi, who is also district secretary of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), has been named as the party candidate for the SC-reserved Sattupalli constituency.
The Bahujana Left Front (BLF) has announced Kota Ram Babu, a Madhira-based doctor, as its candidate for the SC-reserved Madhira constituency. His name figured in the BLF’s first list of 14 candidates for the ensuing Assembly polls in the State, sources said.
The supporters of Dr. Ram Babu burst into celebrations and distributed sweets in Madhira town.
Meanwhile, CPI(M) cadres took out a huge rally in Charla in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district on Thursday to garner support for Dr. Babu Rao, the party candidate for Bhadrachalam Assembly constituency.
