CHANDIGARH: Schools and colleges will no longer be able to get away with excessive
fee hikes and indulge in
commercialisation, as the
UT administration has constituted a regulatory committee under the Punjab Regulation of Fee of Unaided Educational Institution Act, 2016, after approving its nominated members.
The Act was extended to the UT by the ministry of home affairs vide a notification of April 13, 2018. Formation of a committee was an integral part of the Act. With this, parents can now submit complaints on fee and commercialisation issues to the seven-member committee, led by the education secretary. Education secretary BL Sharma said selection and approval of nominated members delayed the process of committee constitution, but it would be fully functional soon.
