Ending a prolonged speculation over his political future in the wake of his being sidelined in the Telangana Rashtra Samithi for some time now Rajya Sabha member Dharmapuri Srinivas said that he almost made up his mind to quit the TRS and it could be during the Navaratri festival before the Dasara. He also said that he would join the Congress in the presence of AICC president Rahul Gandhi.
In the morning during the course of an informal chat with his followers when they came to greet him in connection with his 70th birthday he hinted at quitting the TRS. However, he made it clear that he would join Congress only after tendering resignation to his Rajya Sabha membership.
“I would like to take the decision in next couple of days after consulting the Congress high command. I almost made up my mind to resign from the TRS and quit RS membership,” he said while talking The Hindu over the phone.
On the other hand, in the morning interacting with his followers he was said to have told them to work for the Congressin both the Nizamabad (Urban) and Rural constituencies. It is understood that in the event of his quitting the TRS and joining the Congress political equations in both the constituencies would change.
However, Mr. Srinivas said that he would not contest the Assembly elections from any place.
