23-year-old who brainwashed and impregnated a minor girl awarded 10 years of jail

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh District court awarded 10 years of jail to 23-year-old person in case related to abduction and rape of a minor girl on Thursday.
The court of additional district and sessions judge Poonam R Joshi convicted Pappu Kumar Thakur . The court also imposed fine of Rs 1.08 lakh on the convict .

The victim was stated to be brainwashed by the convict and she also had become pregnant but it got aborted due to intake of some wrong medicine .The victim even had refused to go home and stated to be under his influence a 15 year old rape survivor who had got pregnant after continuous rape on pretext of getting married identified the accuse had also confessed that it was due to threats and assurances of marriage by accuse that she earlier stated that she did not want to stay with her family and preferred going to Ashiana as she was completely brainwashed by the accuse..the victim stated that she was under the influence of accuse.

The 15-year-old rape survivor had narrated the chain of events. The 15 year old was allegedly raped by Pappu Kumar Thakur stated to be 23 years old. It was stated that Pappu assured the minor victim that he wants to get married to he after divorcing his wife and took her in an autorickshaw to Mohali where he had already occupied a room on rent.Pappu allegedly raped her from August 16, 2017 till August,2017 .

Later Pappu with full planning brainwashed the victim after giving assurance of marrying her and also warned her not to disclosed about their meeting to anyone.Meanwhile the parents of the victim had already reported the matter that their girl is missing to the police. Pappu also taught the victim not to get the medical done after he will drop her and taught her not to stay with her parents .

As per his planning ,Pappu dropped the victim near one school on August 21,2017 and told her that she should insist to go to child care Ashiana and he will take her away from there .She told her parents that she had gone to Mansi Devi temple on her own.Meanwhile she refused to undergo medical as per dictation by the accuse. The victim was taken for recording of statement before magistrate under section 164.the victim stated that she doesnot want to stay with her parents as they torture her. She insisted the magistrate to send her to Ashiana.Accordingly she was send. But after so many days Pappu never returned to take her with him and she insisted Ashiana officials to send her home.

Later the minor complained to her mother of stomach ache and it was revealed that minor victim was pregnant and then the matter was reported to police and then the medical confirmed of rape .She was counselled by Child Welfare committee and meanwhile pregnancy of minor girl got aborted due to intake of some wrong medicine as stated .

Advocate of victim Sajjal Sharma argued that the accuse is sharp minded and also fully aware of legal technicalities. That was the reason that he dictated the minor not to undergo medical and insisted her to go to Ashiana . He also argued that two years back the accuse was booked by police under section 354 of IPC(Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty.) but was acquitted .He instated that the accuse should be given maximum punishment for not just raping but also impregnating her .

After the arguments the court held him guilty and send him to jail for 10 years.
