MANGALURU: Sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) here arrested an official from Karnataka Housing Board while accepting bribe on Friday.

Official sources from ACB said they have trapped and arrested the official while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. The backdrop of the case is that a resident of Bajpe near here had sought documents and NOC from the Karnataka Housing Board after clearing a loan of Rs 9,500. The loan was availed by the ancestors of the complainant.

When the complainant sought documents and NOC, Karnataka Housing Board's assistant executive engineer Vijaya Bhaskar and assistant revenue officer Srinivas allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 for the same. On Friday, Dakshina Kannada District ACB officials trapped Srinivas while accepting the bribe and caught him red handed. The ACB officials have seized the amount and the case is under investigation, officials said.
