Gautam Budh Nagar administration will also stop their financial transactions

In a major crackdown on criminals, Gautam Budh Nagar administration on Thursday announced its decision to attach the properties of 566 gangsters and stop their financial transactions in the district.

Gautam Budh Nagar District Magistrate B.N. Singh said action has been taken against 150 criminal gangs, including 566 persons, who have been booked by the police since May 1, 2017.

He said those included in the list are murderers, robbers, mafia, builders involved in cheating, drug peddlers and online fraudsters, besides those involved in the twin building collapse in Shahberi. Mr. Singh said they belong to different regions of Gautam Budh Nagar, including Noida and Greater Noida.

Officials said “ill-gotten” properties, both movable and immovable, and wealth have been attached under Sections 14 and 15 of the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 1986.

Mr. Singh said the administration has written to all departments here, including the municipal authorities, Income Tax, Sales Tax, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, and incharge of police stations.

“We have asked them to stop financial transactions of these people, in case of movable properties, and sought details within 15 days,” Mr. Singh said.

He added that the administration will share the entire list of gangsters with the public and request them to share any available documentary proof against them with the officials.
