Khan says certain elements had threatened him.

The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the creative freedom of Bollywood actor Salman Khan by protecting his company-produced movie Loveyatri  from criminal action.

The film due for release after certification by the Censor Board

Mr. Khan said certain elements had threatened him.

"They have offered a bounty," Mr. Khan's lawyer, Nizam Pasha, submitted. The film was earlier named Loveratri  but the name was changed to Loveyatri  because people misunderstood it with festival 'Navaratri'.

A three-judge Bench, led by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra barred FIRs from being registered in relation to the film's name, songs or any of its contents.

The court has posted the case for hearing after four weeks.
