molesting girl students. The accused was produced in the court, which sent him to judicial
custody.
More than 10 girls of the gurukul had on Tuesday accused the director of molesting them. Following that a panchayat was held in the village and police were informed. The villagers and the students also accused the gurukul principal for conniving with the accused. There are about 350 students enrolled in the educational institute.
Hansi superintendent of police (SP) Virendra Vij confirmed the incident and said that a case had been registered under Section 354 (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 10 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the accused.
The girls have also given statements to the police in which they accused the director of molesting and sexually harassing them. They have alleged that the accused used to call them to his room at odd hours on some or the other pretext like to get his head or body massaged.
The SP said the girls stated such incidents had been occurring for the past 10-15 days. Some also alleged the director had asked them to be his friends. Vij added that investigation in the case had been handed to Hansi women police station in-charge inspector Kamlesh.
When contacted, the gurukul principal said she was in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, for the past two days. On the allegations by the students, she said that the girls were making accusation as an act of revenge as their letters written to some boys had been recovered by the gurukul staff and they had been asked to explain their conduct.
