Gujarat Technological University to offer certified courses on 3D printing technology

Students of Gujarat Technological University will now be able to enroll for dedicated courses on 3D printing technology. The university has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with US-based organisation US Institute of 3D Technology (USI3DT) to offer certified courses on 3D printing technology. The aim of the collaboration is to impart education and training to students as well as professionals from various industries to keep up with the pace of technology.

Speaking about the same, Navin Sheth, Vice Chancellor, GTU, said, "Our mission is to prepare Indian youth for the ongoing technological revolution. We are also looking at research and development in the field of 3D printing technology. USi3DT will offer various certificate programmes to GTU students; the mobile 3D printers will also come from the US. Our students and faculty will get hands-on experience of the nuances of 3D printing technology."

Dr Yogi Gandhi, CEO, USI3DT, commented, "Our vision is to see India as the largest skilled workforce provider in the field of 3D Printing technology worldwide. The participants will be exposed to various problems faced in industrial manufacturing and will be asked to find 3D printing solutions for the same. The focus will be on helping them develop creative thinking and critical reasoning skills."
