HYDERABAD: A gruesome murder that happened in broad daylight in the middle of a road in Hyderabad has left the entire country shocked. A 24-year-old man was axed to death in full public view by two assailants on Wednesday morning. The victim, a key accused in a murder case, was attacked near pillar-140 at Attapur, even as onlookers stood right there recording the entire episode on their mobiles.

A traffic police constable and few others gathered courage to intervene later, but by then the victim had been hacked 8-12 times and he died at the spot. The deceased, J Ramesh is an electrician who was residing in Jummerath Bazar in Dhoolpet. Police say the assailants were the father and uncle of the youngster Mahesh, who was allegedly killed by Ramesh last year.

Kishan, the father, is also an electrician from the same area as Ramesh and Laxman owns a tent house business. “Kishan axed Ramesh to death while Laxman assisted him,” says Shamshabad DCP N Prakash Reddy.

Ramesh was returning from Upparpally Court, where he had to appear in connection with Mahesh’s  murder case. Around 11 am, Ramesh was cornered by the duo who came on a bike. They chased him down the road, wielding an axe, before hacking him to death.
