KANPUR: A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a
temple priest in
Farrukhabad on Wednesday.
The priest was later arrested and booked under the Sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act. The girl was playing near the temple along with three children in
Pahadpur Bairagar. The accused priest, Govind Das (55), allegedly tricked her into the temple and allegedly raped her. On hearing the girl's cries, passersby rushed to the temple and caught the priest. They beat him up and then handed him to the police.
The girl's parents lodged a police complaint after which Das was arrested. The girl was sent to a hospital for medical examination, said Farrukhabad SP Santosh Mishra.
