Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday laid foundation of Narmada-Kshipra multipurpose project. After completion, the project will benefit farmers of Tarana tehsil and several adjoining villages. Energy minister Paras Jain, Khadi Gram Udyog Board president Suresh Arya, MLA Anil Firojiya, Arun Bhimawat and Shayam Bansal were also present in the programme.
The Rs 2300 crore ambitious project will take around 42 months to complete.
The project will provide irrigate around 30,000 hectare agriculture land of 55 villages in Tarana and seven villages in Ghatiya tehsil. It will also cater drinking water to Tarana, Jhangara, Ghatiya and Gudariya Gurjar areas. To fulfill the water requirement for the project, 15 cubic meter per second water will be drawn from Omkareshwar dam for which pumping stations will be installed at different locations. This project is more significant from its land usage perspective as it is totally underground project and the land will be used for installation of pumps only.
Chouhan in his address asserted that government is working incessantly for the development and growth of state. He further said the government will on Friday credit around Rs 98.7 crore in the accounts of 27,618 farmers for garlic and Rs 53.78 crore for onion. Similarly, considerable amount for soybean and wheat crops will also be provided soon to farmers, he added. Electricity bills worth Rs 200 crore have been waved off under Sambal Yojana and further farmers with landholdings of five acre will be covered under the scheme. Responding to the demand of giving tehsil status to Maksi, he assured that decision will be taken after detailed analysis.
