The Society of Electrical and Electronics Engineeers (SEEE) for the year 2018-19 was inaugurated at the Easwari Engineering College, at its Ramapuram campus in the city. Speaking at the inaugural function, Chief Guest Jagadeep Kumar of the R&D department, Tangedco, spoke about the need for more power generation to meet the demand.

The official said the overall installation capacity of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) was around 18,000 MW, but still there was a shortage of power.
According to him, it was due to the shortage of fossil fuels during rainy season and unrealised renewable energy production through wind and solar.
Urging the student community conduct research to explore smart ways to increase power generation, he also explained about various job opportunities in TNEB.
Dr E Kaliappan, Professor and Head, EEE Department, which organised the event, presented the Annual report on the SEEE chapter for the academic year 2017-18. The office bearers were given their batches by Jagadeep Kumar. College Principal Dr K Kathiravan congratulated all the students for their excellent academic performance during academic year 2017-18 and encouraged the students to continue the same during forthcoming semesters.
