The Prohibition and Excise Department across the four districts comprising old undivided Adilabad, has successfully completed its 100 days’ action plan on enforcement against excise crime.
Between August 15 and September 24, the department arrested 17 persons for offences related with bootlegging and other crimes.
Addressing a press conference, in-charge Deputy Commissioner of Excise T. David Ravikanth said 30 violations were detected in running of bars and retail outlets of liquor during the period.
Scientific monitoring of discrepancies in sale of liquor was adopted, he added.
Variation monitored
Explaining the methodology, the Excise DC said any variation in the routine quantum of liquor sale even at individual shop level was detected through use of computer technology. This was followed up with suitable action, he added.
Circulating copies of statistics related with enforcement, Mr. Ravikanth said a total of 1,911 cases were booked in old Adilabad so far during the year.
A total of 1,019 persons were arrested across the four districts, he added.
