Scheme to rebuild schools with the help of paint companies

Everyone should work for the reconstruction of the State following last month’s floods, Industries Minister E.P. Jayarajan has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating a scheme of Durolac Paints to renovate government schools, anganwadis, and dispensaries in flood-affected areas at a cost of ₹50 lakh, at Government Upper Primary School, Nedumcaud, Karamana, on Tuesday.

Half the price

The floods caused large-scale destruction and a lot of funds were needed to set things right.

The government was keen for help from industries for this purpose.

Paint companies doing business in the State had agreed to sell their products at 50% less than market price, he said.

It was gladdening that Durolac was using ‘antibiotic’ technology to paint and renovate schools, anganwadis, and dispensaries, the Minister added.

Work would be taken up on the basis of a list handed over by the State government. Mayor V.K. Prasanth presided.

Durolac Paints Director K.P. Anildev presented a report.
