GURUGRAM: A 28-year-old resident of Sector 39 who runs a paying guest accommodation was allegedly
robbed of a laptop, Rs 47,000 cash and a mobile phone on Monday night by a cab driver and his four accomplices. An FIR was registered at Sector 29 police station on Tuesday.
According to the complainant, Rahul Juneja, the alleged crime took place around 10.45pm, when he boarded a cab from IFFCO Chowk to go to Rajiv Chowk. There were four other men already sitting in the cab.
“I was sitting with the other four on the back seat. When the cab reached Star Mall, they started thrashing me. All of them were drunk. Two of them snatched two ATM cards from my pocket and asked for the secret PIN. Soon after, the driver moved the car towards an ATM in a market.
“They withdrew Rs 40,000 from one card and Rs 7,000 from another. They held me captive in their car before dumping me off on the roadside near
Ghasera village after stealing both my mobile phones and laptop. A biker dropped me off to
Sohna and I informed police and my family through his phone,” Juneja said in his complaint.
An FIR was registered against five accused under Section 379-B (snatching & use of force) of the IPC at Sector 29 police station. “We are investigating the matter and are trying to identify the cab and the accused with the help of CCTV cameras in those areas.
