“The Metro Rail has to give the money to restore street lights that were removed during the work. It has given Rs 30 lakhs for Anna Nagar Second Avenue, based on 2011 estimation. New lights were fixed with an additional Rs 80 lakh corporation fund,” a Chennai Corporation official said.

Meanwhile, the civic body took up works between Nandanam Signal and DMS at Rs 1.2 crore Metro Rail deposit. “We received Rs 45 lakh for Tondiarpet High Road and are awaiting funds for Saidapet. Works will be completed in a few days on DMS stretch,” the official said.

The civic body has also been requesting Metro Rail to release funds based on present cost of materials.
