Demand advanced supplementary exams

Engineering students protested at Martyrs’ Memorial here on Tuesday demanding from the administrations of Osmania University and the JNTU to do away with academic detention of students.

While claiming that over 15,000 students are detained every year in the State’s engineering colleges, the students, , under the aegis of Telangana Engineering Students’ JAC, demanded introduction of advanced supplementary examinations.

Protestors detained

The police detained the students for protesting at the memorial. In their list of demands, the students alleged that the manner in which students are being detained was not existing earlier.

They also raised the issue of delays in fee reimbursement, citing financial hurdles to education.

Better facilities

In a similar incident of protest, students of Osmania University protested on the university campus demanding better facilities in hostels for women.

The students sat on the main thoroughfare of the university, outside Ladies Hostel Complex, to air their demands. The protests began Monday night and continued on Tuesday.
