Security forces on Tuesday killed two militants in Baramulla’s Sopore in an operation launched on Monday night.
“Monday night, a joint operation was launched on credible inputs about the presence of militants at Nowpora area of Tujjer in Sopore. The hiding militants fired upon the search party. In the ensuing encounter two militants were eliminated,” said the spokesman.
The identities of the dead militants were being ascertained, the police said. “Some arms, ammunition and incriminating material have been recovered from the site of encounter,” he added.
Three families from Shopian, Kulgam and Ganderbal on Tuesday claimed their kin were among the five militants killed in Bandipora on September 21. The Army had said the slain militants were foreigners.
