NOIDA: The
Noida Metro Rail Corporation (
NMRC) on Tuesday passed a proposal to hand over the operations of the
Aqua Line to
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (
DMRC) for the first year, in its board meeting held at Nirman Bhawan in Delhi.
NMRC had last month signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the DMRC to handle the operations of the line for a year. Officials told TOI that since the NMRC does not have adequate trained manpower currently, it will need trained staff to handle operations. “So, in the initial year, DMRC will give about 100 people for managing our operations,” an official said.
The NMRC will, however, bear a cost of their services which turns about to be about Rs 3 crore per annum, according to the official. Also discussed in the board meeting was a detailed progress report of the Aqua line and upgradation of the city bus service among other issues.
PD Upadhdyay, executive director, NMRC, said 50 city buses will be initially rolled out as metro feeders. “The UP State Road
Transport Corporation is yet to give its survey report. The routes, frequency, etc of the buses to be hired in the future will depend on this survey,” he added.
A recommendation for an audit of the financial reports of the NMRC by the CAG has been made, he said.
