Navy to commemorate surgical strikes

Exhibition to be held at Lulu Mall

To commemorate the second anniversary of the surgical strikes by India, the Southern Naval Command will celebrate Parakram Parv (valour festival) from September 28 to 30.

As part of the celebrations, Rear Admiral R.J. Nadkarni,VSM, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command, will inaugurate an exhibition to be held at Lulu Mall, Edappally, at 3 p.m. on September 28. The exhibits will include models of ships and aircraft, weapons such as torpedoes and missiles, a fully kitted up diver mannequin, cutouts displaying professional naval activities, and photo boards. In addition, a large screen display on which videos of the surgical strikes as well as naval operations will be shown.

Visitors will get a chance to be educated on military and naval trivia, take selfies, post graffiti on a canvas wall and participate in snap quizzes and win prizes. The event will also feature martial arts as well as popular music by the naval band and rendering of patriotic film songs.

Further, organised visits for approximately 1,500 schoolchildren and NCC cadets to ships at Kochi as well as INS Garuda, the naval air station, will be conducted between 9.30 a.m. and 12 noon between September 27 and 29.
