SDPI to hold nationwide campaign to urge people to oust BJP

MANGALURU: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) will hold a nationwide campaign to educate people on the shortcomings of BJP, which holds power in the Centre and different states in the country, said SDPI president M K Faizy.

Faizy, who was in the city to meet its party heads and workers on Tuesday, said the SDPI will launch a nation-wide campaign to oust the BJP. At a news conference here on Tuesday, he slammed the BJP for not being able to control violence and others crimes in the country.

“Despite the Supreme Court’s order, lynchings have continued to take place across the country. India ranks first when it comes to violence against women, and the Rafale deal is a fine example for corruption in the BJP government. We will conduct campaigns across the country, asking the people to oust the BJP from power,” he said.

Explaining his reason for carrying out such a campaign, Faizy said that BJP instead of uniting India was dividing its people on caste and religious lines. “We as a secular party want to unite and fight against the BJP,” he said.

Asked on whether they are forming a mahagathbandhan in the upcoming polls, he said that discussions are on in this direction. “Our main goal is to make sure that the fascist political party loses in the elections. We are not worried about how many seats are won, but want to unite to fight against fascist forces,” he said. According to him, SDPI has a strong presence in 13 states, including in some of the states in north India.

Reacting to the Ordinance against triple talaq, he alleged that it was done to trouble Muslims and not to support them. “It was a civil issue, but has now turned into a criminal one. The ordinance is not clear and is causing confusion,” he said.
