VADODARA: Concerned over increasing number of swine flu cases in the city and surrounding areas, a meeting of the health officials as well as doctors of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), Vadodara district panchayat and state-run hospitals was convened at the SSG Hospital (SSGH) on Tuesday.

After a series of cases in the city, a 34-year-old woman living in the Gujarat Refinery Township tested positive for swine flu. Three persons had tested positive in the Vadodara district earlier too taking the total number of positive cases there to four.

At the meeting, the doctors and health officials were asked to ensure that all doctors and paramedics who were handling positive swine flu cases should be give flu vaccines. The meeting also took stock of the availability of isolation wards, ventilators and oseltamivir tablets as well as other materials.

While the meeting discussed other diseases and issues, it was swine flu that dominated the agenda. Officials will now be meeting on every Tuesday to discuss swine flu and other disease outbreaks in the city and district. tnn
