4 youngsters go on crime spree, end up in jail

Coimbatore: The rural police on Monday arrested four youths, who were involved in burglaries, chain snatching and thefts at Sulur, Kovilpalayam and Chettipalayam police limits, and recovered 31 sovereigns of gold ornaments from them.
Police identified them as S Mohankrishnan, 21, of Pattanam, M Gowtham, 21, of Irugur Road, Ondipudur, S Nithish, 21, of Irugur and B Mithun, 20, of Ramanathapuram. “Gowtham had completed BE. Nithish is a polytechnic dropout. Mohankrishnan is also a dropout from an ITI. Mithun had completed Plus Two,” a police officer said.

“They were close friends and wanted to live a lavish life. They had stolen a moped from Chettipalayam police station limit and involved in a chain snatching case at Kovilpalayam police limits. They are facing six cases in three police station limits,” the officer told TOI.

A police team had first arrested Mithun and Nithish for breaking into a house at Sangamam Nagar at Chettipalayam on Monday. Police seized three sovereigns of gold ornaments from the duo.

Based on their confession, Mohankrishnan and Gowtham were picked up on Monday afternoon. Police recovered 28 sovereigns of gold ornaments from them.

They were produced before a judicial magistrate on Monday night and were lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison.
