“I see fluttering yellow flag in New York City. It will give me renewed energy to see the party flag fluttering across the globe. No other political party has won this honour,” said Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president N. Chandrababu Naidu.
He was addressing a meeting of Telugu community in the US on Monday. Mr.Naidu said that TDP founder president N.T. Rama Rao would not have expected that the party flag would be hoisted in New York City one day. Telugu Desam Mahanadu was organised well under the guidance of TDP general secretary and IT Minister Nara Lokesh. It was necessary to continue the same spirit and strive hard for victory of the TDP in general elections, he said.
‘Use social media’
A Bill providing voting rights to NRIs was passed in the Lok Sabha and would be placed before the Rajya Sabha soon. The Bill proposed to extend the facility of ‘proxy voting’ to overseas Indians, on the lines of the one on service voters, which was passed by the Lok Sabha last month. Every NRI would be eligible to vote from the place where they resided. “It is a historical necessity to vote for the TDP,” he said, adding, “we need both vote and publicity. Use social media extensively for publicity.”
One should be loyal to the party that helped him or her by providing a platform and opportunity to grow. Every Non-Resident Indian (NRI) should join TDP. Very soon NRI TDP Seva Kendra would be set up , he said.
TANA and NATS leaders welcomed the CM in New York. Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, Special Chief Secretary Satish Chandra, Principal Secretary G. Sai Prasad, I&PR Commissioner S. Venkateswar were present.
A State-level workshop of the TDP discussed the Bill recently. Mr. Naidu stressed the need to gear up in this regard. The party had to prepare a list of NRI voters in each district. Necessary plans had be chalked out to win the confidence of NRI voters, he said at the workshop.
