Watch: How injured Navy officer Commander Abhilash Tomy was rescued

Injured Indian Navy officer Commander Abhilash Tomy was rescued by a French fishing vessel Osiris 2 days after he got dismasted and suffered a crippling back injury during a storm in the Indian Ocean, about 1,900 nautical miles from Perth. Video of his rescue shows rescuers from the fishing vessel Osiris approaching his yatch using an inflatable boat. Commander Tomy is representing India in the GGR 2018 on an indigenously built sailing vessel ‘Thuriya’. The naval officer is the only Indian to have circumnavigated the globe non-stop on the legendary sail Yacht INSV Mhadei.
