Croatia's Luka Modric wins FIFA best player of the year award

Croatian midfielder Luka Modric has won the FIFA player of the year award for 2018. Modric's performance helped Croatia reach the World Cup final for the first time ever this year. Also, his club Real Madrid won the Champions League for the third straight year. Modric also won the Golden Ball for the best player at the FIFA World Cup 2018. Ronaldo and Messi remain tied with both having won FIFA's best player of the year award 5 times each.
