MANGALURU: Three special police teams have been formed to investigate the attempt to murder Harish Shetty, a Bajrang Dal leader, at Ganjimutt.
Harish, a resident of Ganjimutt, who is a bus time-keeper by profession, and Gurupura zonal head of Bajrang Dal, was attacked around 8pm on Monday. Four unidentified people who came on two motorbikes near Suralpady Mosque attacked him with weapons and fled from the spot. Harish was returning on a two-wheeler after finishing work at Kaikamba. He received severe injuries on his hands and legs, and was immediately rushed to a private hospital with the help of locals.

MLAs Y Bharath Shetty, D Vedvyas Kamath and Umanath Kotian visited the victim in the hospital. Doctors said that he is out of danger and is recuperating.

Police sources said three teams have been formed to nab the culprits. However, so far they are clueless about why and who attacked Harish, as he had no enmity with anyone, apart from being a leader of the saffron outfit.

A case has been registered at the Bajpe police station.
