Cape Town - England coach Eddie Jones is consulting over whether his players' wives and partners (WAGS) will be welcome at next year's Rugby World Cup in Japan, according to the Stuff website.

Jones will first speak to England football manager Gareth Southgate about his side's experience at this year's Soccer World Cup in Russia before making his decision, the Daily Telegraph reports.

The Football Association (FA) did not put a ban on partners attending the World Cup, so many brought their families on tour with them during the tournament in June and July this year.

However, the Rugby World Cup runs for double the time, from early September 2019 to the final on November 2.

Former England manager Martin Johnson allowed players in 2011 to wives and girlfriends to New Zealand, believing it would bring stability.

But England were dumped out of the tournament in the quarter-finals after some off-field incidents involving late nights and partying in Queenstown.

This time around Jones wants to gather more information before making his decision.

"We have been talking to the FA about what they did successfully at the World Cup. When it gets closer to the time we will have a policy on that. I don't want to say what the FA did because I might get it wrong," Jones said.
