PUNE: Unidentified person(s) on Saturday night broke a window glass of a radiologist’s parked car near Nal Stop off Karve Road and made off with a bag containing Rs1.3 lakh.
The theft occurred between 8.15pm and 9.30pm when the radiologist Baldevsingh Rajput, a resident of Warje, was having dinner at a restaurant with his family.

Assistant inspector of the Alankar police S G Chavan told TOI that Rajput runs a diagnostic centre on Pune-Satara Road. “Rajput in his complaint stated that he would deposit cash from his diagnostic centre into the bank twice a week,” Chavan said.

On Saturday night before leaving the diagnostic centre Rajput kept Rs1.3 lakh in an empty laptop bag to take home. “When he called his family members, he came to know they were planning to visit Ganesh mandals in the Peth areas. Rajput then decided to have dinner before going to visit the mandals,” Chavan said.

Rajput met his family near Nal Stop at around 8.15pm. “He parked his car near the restaurant and went in for dinner,” Chavan said.

When Rajput returned to his car at around 9.30pm he found the rear window glass was broken. “When Rajput checked the car he saw that the laptop bag containing the cash was missing,” Chavan said.

The police have launched a search for the suspects. “We are trying to obtain the CCTV footage to identify the suspects,” Chavan said.
