HYDERABAD: Two persons suffered burns after a fire broke out at a chemical company in
Bachupally in the early hours of Monday.
Both the injured are out of danger and they suffered 30% burns. Around 6.45am, production operators Uday Kumar, 21, and Sai Kumar, 21of Advaita Pharma company, where on duty when a fire broke out, reportedly due to short-circuit in the transformer, Bachupally police said. As several chemical drums were nearby, the fire quickly spread to them. The two victims, who hail from Chitoor in
Andhra Pradesh, were working nearby suffered burns on their face and other body parts, police added.
After an alert, fire-fighters rushed to the spot and rescued the two victims, who were shifted to hospital. The fire spread to an adjoining company. The fire-fighting operations continued till 8.30am. “Since the transformer got drenched in rain, it led to short circuit. The fire officials had to break the compound wall while attending to the crisis, where loss could be worth several crores. The equipment at rexine company was imported. However, the 10 employees, who were in the rexine factory, escaped unhurt as they came out before the fire spread to their company.
