HYDERABAD: So far this year, the police closed nearly 100 brothels in Yadagirigutta and rescued over 34 minor girls from traffickers. Now, the cops are being approached by many people, claiming to be parents of the victims. Rachakonda police said eight parents have approached them after getting information of the minor girls being rescued.

“We have taken DNA samples of the minor girls. Only if the DNA profiles match, we will hand over the girls to the people claiming to be the parents. Parents are unable to identify their children seeing their photos, as the victims were trafficked when they were very young,” said Bhongir deputy commissioner of police, E Ramchandra Reddy.

Of the 34 minor girls rescued, six are less than six years old. They have been shifted to Shishu Bhavan, while the rest are staying with Prajwala NGO, the DCP added. “We are also checking for missing cases to find out biological parents of the rescued children,” added Reddy.
