John Cena’s Ford GT Bound For Auction Again Just Once Month After Monterey Sale

Yep, you’re reading that headline correctly. The 2017 Ford GT once owned by WWE superstar John Cena is heading to auction. Again.

This is the third time the car has been put on the market and provided it is sold at the October auction, it will soon have a fourth owner.

Four weeks ago, the elderly Californian farmer who purchased the GT off Cena auctioned the vehicle during Monterey Car Week. It sold for $1.4 million and has already been handed over to yet another auction house, this time Mecum.

Autoblog reports that the third owner has put just a single mile on the Liquid Blue GT since buying it at Monterey. Consequently, it only has 636 miles (1023) under its belt and despite its tumultuous history, remains an incredibly-desirable GT.

Like all others, it is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine producing 647 hp and 550 lb-ft (677 Nm) of torque. That’s enough grunt to send the race-car-for-the-road to 62 mph (100 km/h) in roughly 3 seconds flat and through to a 216 mph (347 km/h) top speed.

Cena’s former GT is serial number 77 and alongside its minimal mileage, appears to be tip-top shape.

The wrestler was famously sued by Ford late last year for flipping the car. Like all GT buyers, Cena signed an agreement that he wouldn’t sell the car during the first two years of ownership. He purchased it new for $466,376. It remains to be seen how much he sold it for but the two parties settled the case for an undisclosed amount. It is thought that Ford was forced to pay up the profits he made with Ford donating them to charity.

As Cena has dealt with all the issues of the original ownership contract, this is believed to be the only new Ford GT in the world that’s free to be sold without any repercussions. Perhaps that’s why the current owner is selling it and looking for a quick profit after less than a month of ownership.
