Impact of AI on the Auto Industry
Mark Conner
Senior Vice President of Channel Strategy
LotLinx
"During my time in the automotive industry, I have seen many changes, particularly in marketing. No innovation has had as significant an impact as artificial intelligence. What is exciting is we are just scraping the surface. LotLinx has spent the last several years collecting data and applying it to dealer campaigns with great success. And as we collect more data, that success will only grow for our partners. There is no question that AI is the future of automotive marketing."
Conner is the current senior vice president of channel strategy for LotLinx and has been on board since 2017. He brings years of experience as a leader of marketing and e-commerce initiatives for automotive dealership groups, after spending over 19 years working for Lithia Motors, a Fortune 500 company, as both an assistant vice president of service operations and assistant vice president of marketing. He's been recognized for strategy development and innovative leadership. His track record of driving high ROI for car dealers has made Mark a highly sought-after industry speaker, with engagements at Kain Automotive, Digital Marketing Strategies Conference, Digital Dealer, and more. Conner attended the National Automobile Dealer's Academy (NADA), where he studied fixed operational accounting. He also received a certification from Cornell University for Marketing Strategy for Business Leaders. He got his start in the automotive industry as a service manager for Kuna Cadillac and BMW.

AI and VIN-Specific Marketing
Pat Ward
Chief Revenue Officer
LotLinx
"I have been on the dealer side, and I have worked extensively with OEMs to streamline advertising and sales initiatives. Nothing has captured the attention of this industry the way AI and VIN-specific marketing has. This technology pairs specific cars with specific buyers in a way that wasn't possible even a few years ago. AI and machine learning has blown up the status quo when it comes to advertising spend for dealers, shrinking profit margins and maximizing marketing budgets exponentially."
Ward joined LotLinx in January 2017. He is a transformative sales, service, and marketing leader who delivers revenue and market share growth by creating innovative solutions within the corporate and retail automotive marketplace. He has more than 30 years of deep OEM automotive experience. Ward was vice president of retail operations for Jaguar in Mahwah. Having managed a 167-dealer network during his time at Jaguar, he was able to generate $1 billion in revenue annually. He was also instrumental in helping launch GM's first electric vehicle, the EV1. He attended Central Michigan University, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Impact of Tax Law Changes, Diversity and Sustainability on Corporate Strategy
Amy Rojik
Assurance Partner and Director
BDO's Center for Corporate Governance and Financial Reporting
Rojik is available to discuss how significant tax law changes, diversity and sustainability are impacting corporate strategy: "Public company board directors see recent tax law changes as positively impacting their companies, but many are taking a 'wait and see' approach to launching new business initiatives, as they look to develop a more thorough understanding of their business' total tax liability. Tax reform is just one of the many significant areas of focus for corporate directors, as non-GAAP financial measures, board composition and diversity, sustainability, and information governance continue to be top of mind as well."
Rojik is also available to discuss the results of BDO's 2018 Board Survey (link below). Among key findings, a majority (61%) of public company board members note a favorable impact from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, while 39% say this law change had no impact at all on their business. Additional findings cover total tax liability, diversity and service limits, sustainability reporting and more.

Freelance Fails and What to Do Instead
Dave Woodward
Chief Revenue and Business Development Officer
ClickFunnels
Woodward shares tips for freelancers on what's working for them and what really isn't: 1) Lead generation: "For a lot of freelancers, one of the things they struggle with is they just don't know how to generate enough leads. These are people who have great skills, but they're spending all this time trying to generate leads and can't get enough leads to really pay for it." 2) Fighting for crumbs: "When you're in [a competitive freelance] environment, you're now competing for the crumbs that were left [by the freelancer who beat you to the punch]. It's this whole idea of bottom feeding up. In other words, you're competing to drive price to the bottom for a service that actually should be extremely valuable." 3) Charging too little: "One of the things we really want to combat right now is helping people understand that you, as a freelancer or as an agency, actually need to be selling your services at a higher price point and providing the type of quality that allows people to go, 'You know what? I want to pay that.'" What should freelancers do instead? Build a funnel to sell services: "People spend all this money trying to create a website to sell their agency services. It'll never, ever work that way. I want to make sure you understand that. Websites are dying. You've got to find ways of building a sales funnel and learning how that funnel actually works… Too often, people are spending a ton for traffic [that clicks through to] a website where a person gets lost."
Woodward is the chief revenue and business development officer of ClickFunnels and host of the weekly ClickFunnels Podcast, Funnel Hacker Radio. ClickFunnels is an SaaS software that lets people design and create sales pages, landing pages, order forms, and membership sites. Through this software, people can manage their entire sales and marketing funnel, and it also helps people with anything to buy or sell to do so in the most effective and efficient way.
