Meet focusses on diabetes, obesity, heart-related and kidney ailments

As part of the ongoing National Nutrition Month, members of Vijayawada Dietetic Association (VDA) conducted a free awareness programme on “Health and Food’ at IMA Hall here on Sunday.

The awareness session focussed on diabetes, obesity, heart-related and kidney ailments. Issues related to mother-child health, diabetes and anaemia among pregnant women also were taken up. The organisers spoke about food and the scientific facts, the what, how and why of it.

The association president D. Hema Devi, secretary J.K. Tulasi and others played an active role in putting together the event.

VDA is a group of dieticians and nutritionists working in and around Vijayawada city. They all came together to form VDA in 2011. The VDA has been working to popularise implementation of standard therapeutic nutritional practices in Hospital and Health Care institutions and organising periodical programmes to update knowledge and sharpen skills.
