LUCKNOW: When the new system of issuing
smart card DL comes into place soon, you may be able to track your application just like like a product ordered on an e-commerce site. You will receive notifications for every stage of your document.
Transport department has floated the tender to hire a new vendor for processing, printing and issuing the smart card
DL since the existing agreement with NICSI is getting over in November this year. The new agency will also have to provide added services to the DL applicants. The agency that bags the contract will send SMS notifications to confirm the dispatch and delivery of the document on the applicant’s mobile number besides putting in place a web-based tracking system and a call centre.
Applicants will be able to track the status of their DL through the website, which will be created exclusively for the purpose, and call the customer care executive if need be.
“It is meant at improving the delivery mechanism and also cross verifying the applicant,” said RTO of computer cell and IT, Sanjay Nath Jha.
At present, DLs are printed in the respective RTOs making it possible for the touts to interfere. Under the new system, there will be a centralised printing of documents, like PAN, at the transport commissioner’s office.
The vendor will also be penalised against pending card delivery to ensure timebound issuance.
The pre-bid meeting will be held on October 1. The contract will be awarded before the existing agreement with NICSI gets over.
