The police team probing the alleged abduction and threatening of a young entrepreneur in Kochi has submitted a chargesheet in the case against V.A. Zakir Husain, CPI(M) Kalamassery area secretary, and a few others.
The chargesheet, submitted by T.R. Rajesh, Assistant Commissioner of Police, District Crime Records Bureau, before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, Kakkanad, has arraigned Husain as first accused and Sheela Thomas as fourth accused in the case. The accused have been booked under Sections 341, 506, 323, 342, 366, 120(b) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
The case followed a complaint lodged by Jube Paulose from Vennala, alleging that Husain had threatened him to withdraw from a business deal. As per the case, the fourth accused, who had harboured hostility towards him over a civil dispute, entered into a criminal conspiracy with Husain to abduct Paulose and threatened him to withdraw from the business deal he had struck with the fourth accused.
