2/7Step 1: Remove old nail polish

Experiment with different nail polish wipes until you find the right one for you. You could opt for soy-based removers or acetone-based ones for the purpose. Ensure you clean your nails well. Yes, even all the sides should be left nail polish-free! Please do not wait for your nail polish to start flaking or chipping. It looks rather unruly.

Maintain your nail shape with a basic four-side file/buffer or a glass file. Shaping with downward movements towards the edge of the nail to seal the layers is the right way to do it. This will help smoothen the edges and clean the surface.
