Former Ford exec's pet project

Former Ford Motor executive MaryAnn Wright, whose team launched the Escape Hybrid, has roots in Dearborn, Mich., that will probably outlast any of the vehicles she helped engineer. Last week, an animal adoption and education center named after Wright opened just miles from where she spent much of her career. Wright, who worked at Johnson Controls after Ford, serves on the boards of Delphi Technologies and Group 1 Automotive. With help from another retired Ford engineering exec, Al Kammerer, she led the drive to get the $5 million shelter built across the street from Ford's "glass house" world headquarters.
