Thieves targeted a house of a doctor and took away cash and valuables worth Rs 10 lakh from his bedroom where he and his wife were asleep. The couple came to know of theft when they woke in morning. Bhanwarkuan police station in-charge Sanjay Shukla said the incident took place at residence of Dr Rajesh Gupta in Indrapuri Colony between 2 am and 7 am. The incident was discovered when Dr Gupta woke up and found almirah opened. The grill of another room’s window was also found broken.
He immediately informed the police about the incident. Thieves stole Rs 3.5 lakh and gold ornaments weighing eight tolas worth Rs 6.5 lakh. The thieves gained entry after breaking iron grill of a window. Police officials and forensic science laboratory officials have investigated the spot. No CCTVs were found installed at the house of doctor. However, police have recovered CCTV footages from a Chinese food joint located on the same route. The experts have taken finger print samples. Police suspect that more than two persons committed theft and knew the doctor. Dr Gupta runs Surya Pathology Lab in a hospital in MIG Colony area while his wife is a homemaker.
Four members in house
Four members of Gupta family were in the house at the time of theft but nobody woke up. Dr Gupta told Free Press that he usually sleeps after 12.30 am. Last night, he went to sleep around 1 am after which thieves entered the house. He said his wife, father and son were also in the house at the time of incident. Gupta said theft took place despite the fact that police patrol the area regularly in night.
