1 booked for assaulting bank manager

LUDHIANA: Dakha police on Saturday evening booked a showroom owner for allegedly assaulting a bank manager after he, along with other bank officials, had gone to check his property as he had taken loan from the bank. The accused was identified as Rajpreet Deol of Harnek Nagar in Mandi Mullanpur.

In his police complaint, Shreekant Sharma, manager of Allahabad Bank Pakhowalk Road branch, said the accused had taken a loan of Rs 5 crore from the bank against his property and the same had increased to Rs. 5.5 crore now. He added that on Friday he, along with bank valuer Rakesh Kumar and assistant valuer Harinder Singh, had gone to check his property.

The complainant told police that when they were at their gate of residence of the accused, he started abusing them. He added that the accused took out his revolver and threatened and slapped him and didn’t allow them to perform their duty after which he informed police.

Dakha police has booked the accused under sections 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and under the Arms act.

IO of the case, ASI Hakam Singh said the accused is yet to be arrested.
