MUMBAI: A
security guard allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling inside the changing room of a Borivali-based school on Friday.
52-year-old
Ganesh Rambahadur was working at the St Francis school in IC Colony since 2004 as the security guard. His wife also worked as a bus attendant for the same school. The couple has two sons, aged 23 and 24.
Rambahadur did not leave behind a suicide note. But he had told his wife earlier that he was likely to take a drastic step, police said.
"Around 7.30 am, Rambahadur came to work. He later headed to the changing room. Around 9 am, a school gate that Rambahadur was supposed to open for students to enter remained shut. As a result, students started entering from the main gate. A guard from the main gate inquired why this was happening. He then decided to find out why Rambahadur has not opened the other gate," a police officer said.
The changing room was shut. The guard then peeped in from the air vent and spotted Rambahadur hanging from the ceiling. The school management was informed and the MHB Colony police was summoned. Rambahadur was taken to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
A case of accidemntal death was recorded. Police said Rambahadur was suffering from high blood pressure and was undergoing
depression.
