Party rejects MLC’s reply to the showcause notice

The disciplinary action committee of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) is likely to recommend suspension of its MLC Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy from the party for his objectionable utterances and subsequent actions against the party leadership.

The DAC which met here on Monday is said to have taken a very serious note of his actions and felt that such incidents had to be nipped in the bud. “There is absolutely no remorse on his part and instead he has continued with his tirade against the party leadership and the newly announced committees,” a senior member of the DAC told The Hindu.

The reply he has given is not satisfactory, the source said adding that the committee would recommend to the AICC to suspend him from the party at least for an year. “He is an MLC and AICC member and hence we can only recommend his suspension,” the DAC member said.

Second notice

Earlier in the day, the DAC served one more notice on Mr. Rajagopal Reddy with a 24-hour deadline to give “proper reply” stating that it is not satisfied with the explanation given by him to the showcause notice issued on September 21.

Chaired by senior Congress leader M. Kodanda Reddy at Gandhi Bhavan, the DAC has gone through the three-page explanation sent to it around noon on Monday by Mr. Rajagopal Reddy, although he was told to submit it on Sunday itself, and felt that there was no proper reply to any of the points raised in the showcause notice.

Committee members B. Kamalaker Rao, Nandi Yellaiah, Sambhani Chandrasekhar, A. Shyam Mohan and C.J. Srinivas Rao attended the meeting.

The committee also faulted Mr. Rajagopal Reddy's attitude stating that he had criticised the disciplinary panel during the press conference held by him on September 21 using harsh words. He had also questioned the authority of the committee to serve showcause notice on him. The DAC warned of serious and stern action against him as per the constitution of the Indian National Congress, in case the reply is wayward again.

Meanwhile, it is understood that the disciplinary action committee has asked Mr. Rajagopal Reddy to name the “brokers and jokers” described by him so that it could examine that too.
