CHANDIGARH:A 14-year-old boy was arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl at a park in Sector 53.
The
rape survivor is a friend of the younger sister of the
accused.
In her complaint to the police, the girl said she and the accused’s sister used to visit each other’s houses regularly. On Friday night, the survivor had gone to meet her. When she was returning to her house, the accused asked her to meet him in the park as he wanted to discuss a matter with her. When the girl reached the site, the accused allegedly gagged her and dragged her to the bushes and raped her.
The accused fled after threatening her against telling anyone about the incident. However, the girl reported the matter to her parents, who took her to a police station. A medical examination confirmed that the girl was raped.
Police recorded her statement and registered a case against the accused under the relevant Sections of IPC and POCSO Act. Later, police caught the accused. Police produced him before a juvenile justice board, which sent him to a juvenile home.
