Lucknow: Missing youth’s body found in lake

LUCKNOW: Hours after he had gone missing after school, a 19-year-old youth was found dead in a lake near Nandoli bridge, under the jurisdiction of Nigoha police station, on Sunday.

As per reports, the deceased was identified as Shivam Kumar, a class XII student.

Police said that Shivam left his home for school at around 5am on Saturday but did not return.

When he did not return, his family approached the police and an FIR was registered.

On Sunday, a passer-by spotted a body floating in a lake near Nandoli bridge, under the jurisdiction of Nigoha police station, at at 12:30pm and informed the police.

Shivam’s family later confirmed the body’s identity. “As the body was inside the lake for more than 12 hours, there was some bleeding from the nose,” said station house officer of Nigoha police station, Ajay Kumar.

“The youth was clad in a white shirt and a brown trouser at the time of his death,” he added.

The body has been sent for the postmortem examination.


The deceased’s family staged a protest at Nigoha police station alleging that the police was dilly-dallying while handling the case and demanded action against the latter.
