The city, however, will experience overcast conditions giving some relief from the heat. The Regional Meteorological Centre has also predicted heavy rain at isolated places over Kerala and South Interior Karnataka from Tuesday onwards. The interior parts of Tamil Nadu witnessed good rain for the past week but the city witnessed a dry period barring a few spells of rain. This happened due to the formation of a north-south trough extending from north interior Karnataka to Kanniyakumari across Tamil Nadu. The maximum temperature recorded in the city on Sunday was 33.2 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 26.8 degrees Celsius. The monsoon has remained mostly subdued over Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.
