NAGPUR: Electrical engineer Siddharth Kamal’s first-ever collection of Marathi poems titled ‘Anuraag’ was released at Madhuram Hall of Vidarbha Hindi Sahitya Sammelan on Saturday. The book comprises over 80 compositions which the poet wrote around 10-15 years back.
At the age of 42, Siddharth was encouraged by his kith and kin to publish his collection. Speaking to TOI, he said, “I used to read the articles written by my roommate during my college days in Nagpur. Before I started working, I moved back to my village Dorli, near Khaparkheda, for three years where I had a lot of time to dedicate to my passion. I allowed my thoughts to flow and wrote down most of my poetries.”
On his long-term plans, Siddharth said, “I wish to write a script for a film. I’ve also registered myself under
Film Writers Association, Mumbai, in order to chase my ultimate dream.”
As the poems were written long back, Siddharth had to edit a few of them as his level of understanding became deep over the years. He said, “This is a common phenomena experienced by many young writers. When they look back after completing a project, they feel they can still do better. This happens due to maturity of mindset and wider perspective in life.”
Literature enthusiast Bhaskar Suman released the book. He said, “Siddharth has the power to kindle the imagination of a reader with his wonderful choice of words and crisp writing. He is one of the most finest poets I’ve come across. His work also reflects the beautiful human being that he is. The poems are mostly romantic and I’m sure it will be a delight for the readers.”
Poet Tanha Nagpuri and film director Ashok Doifode were seated on the dais along with art enthusiasts Ruben Ray, Vijay Meshram and Chandrashekhar Bambode.
