As part of its preparation for the Lok Sabha polls scheduled next year, the Congress will be starting a door-to-door campaign across the State. The Jana Samparka Abhiyan — a people connect programme — will be held from October 2 to November 19.
“We will be focusing on youth aged between 18 and 21 and this is to make the party vibrant and strong to fight the 2019 elections. Relevant data of the voters will also be collected during the programme,” AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka K.C. Venugopal told presspersons after participating in a meeting of districts Congress committee heads and office-bearers of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee.
He expressed confidence that the party will win majority of the seats from Karnataka.
According to him, the programme will also be used to raise funds for the party and each block-level unit has been asked to collect ₹10,000, of which 50% will be given to the All India Congress Committee. Of the remaining amount, KPCC and district committees will get 15% each while the block unit will get to retain 20%.
KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao said that during the door-to-door campaign, pamphlets highlighting corruption by the BJP government at the Centre will be distributed.
